Kitchen Gadgets You Didn’t Know You Needed

Most of us love eating but not so much when it comes to the preparation. Some of us have zero cooking skills while others find it to be an absolute bore. Those of us who spend a lot of time in the kitchen find it beneficial to invest in certain gadgets, like a fat magnet to suck up fat or a karoto which makes peeling cylindrical vegetables so much easier. If this is something you have been thinking about for a while, then this list is just for you.

1. Electric Spaghetti Fork

Let’s face it, spaghetti tastes great, but it can get pretty messy at times. If you can’t seem to master the art of twirling your spaghetti with your fork no matter how much you practice, then perhaps it’s time to get yourself an electric spaghetti fork. This battery-operated device will do all the hard work of twisting your spaghetti; all you have to do is bring it to your mouth. Though despite its intended purpose, this fork can sometimes make things messier than a regular one.

2. Self-Stirring Coffee Mug

No one likes waking up early for work and even just stirring your coffee seems to be a chore at times. If this sounds like you, then maybe it’s time to get a self-stirring coffee mug. Just throw in your coffee, milk, sugar and whatever else you prefer, then sit back and watch the mug do its magic. Just press the button on the handle then sit back and watch the small whisk in the mug gently whip everything to perfection. So don’t feel bad if stirring a spoon is too much for you!

3. Chork

Many of us love Asian food, but few of us have mastered chopsticks. Those of us who haven’t simply went back to using forks. But what if you could have the best of both worlds? You see, there’s this nifty plastic utensil that’s basically a fork on one side and a pair of chopsticks on the other. Even if you’re no good at it, the chork is designed so that even newbies can practice their chopstick skills. Once you think you’ve got a good grasp of it, you can snap the chork in half and use it as a traditional pair of chopsticks.

4. Fat Magnet

We all know that consuming excess fat is bad for our health, which is why we need to make better cooking choices. However, instead of ditching your favorite fatty stews altogether, why don’t you invest in a fat magnet. The name is exactly as it sounds: it picks up and solidifies the fat from your food that you can dispose of later. All you have to do is pop it into the freezer for a couple of hours then skim the metal plate over your soups and stews. So now you have a healthy and delicious meal!

5. Karoto

Those of us who aren’t fans of cooking usually want to spend as little time as possible in the kitchen. When it comes to peeling vegetables, sure a knife or conventional peeler works fine, but they can be somewhat of a chore. Then there’s the karoto, which looks and works just like an oversized pencil sharpener. It’s really easy to use – just place the vegetable into the hole and twist, like how you would sharpen a pencil. In only 30 seconds you’ll have yourself a nicely peeled vegetable with zero finger cuts!
